LED Lighting Strengthens M R Products’ Chain of Operations

One of the things we love most about our work is discovering the big things happening right here in northern Michigan. You may not have heard of M R Products of Copemish, but this organization has an international reputation as a Mr. Chain, manufacturer of a range of plastic barrier solutions. We helped M R Products invest in an upgraded LED lighting system to lower operational costs and provide its team with safer, superior lighting.

The Project

M R Products’ flagship brand, Mr. Chain, manufactures a range of plastic barrier products, including plastic chain, stanchions, ground poles, traffic cones, and other innovations. Plastics manufacturing is inherently energy-intensive, and while M R Products adheres to the industry’s toughest standards, there’s always room to improve efficiency.

Keen Technical Solutions worked with the M R Products team to identify the most cost-effective ways to lower energy consumption. We quickly spotted the immediate opportunity to invest in LED lighting. Not only did Keen calculate potential savings and source the equipment, but we also helped M R Products access a USDA grant to offset 50% of product costs.

The Solution

The LED lighting system we installed is forecast to save 52,778 kWh annually, equivalent to removing 22 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. That brings M R's forecast kWh per year down to 15,418 from 68,196.
